“I’m done cleaning!” The head maid ran her finger across the windowsill. Oh, that always made me so nervous.

“…Excellent work. Try to finish up a bit faster next time. Now, go to the kitchen and help Crea. Once you are done with that, feel free to have lunch.”

“Thank you!”

After Lapis, the head maid, left me alone, I took care of my cleaning tools and went to the kitchen. My job now was to help the head chef, Crea.

Two weeks have passed since I first came to the mansion, and I was already doing a lot of work. There were times when I had to learn too many things at once, but it was the good life compared to where I was before…

I was a thief living in the slums of the capital. I knew that thieving was a bad thing to do, but I had to eat. My mum died giving birth to me, so I never knew her, and my dad died adventuring, so robbing people blind was the only thing left for me to do.

But then Touya came and saved me from that life, what a lad.

After that I got three square meals a day, I could bath whenever I wanted, and I slept in a cozy bed. Not only that, I even got a weekly salary.

There wasn’t much I wanted, so I left most of the money with the butler, Laim. After all, just living in Touya’s mansion gave me everything I needed to live.

I walked to the kitchen and began peeling potatoes. I had to use a small knife before, but Touya created a ‘peeler,’ which made it way easier. Once we were done making Touya’s— er, sir’s food, we began making food for the servants.

Crea’s dishes were always tasty. The best part about working in the kitchen was that she was teaching me how to cook stuff too. Recently, I was able to cook some sunny-side up fried eggs without burning them or anything!

After lunch, I had to go help Crea’s husband Julio, who was in charge of the gardening. My job involved weeding the garden in the back and watering the flowers there. I liked looking after the flowers. They were pretty and made me feel relaxed.

After that, I had to go shopping with the other maid, Cecile, and I helped her prepare dinner once we got back. Following dinner, at around seven o’clock, I was done with work for the day. That was bathtime! The bath was really warm, I loved it. When I finished, it was time to go back to my room and study how to read and write. I still couldn’t believe that I had my own room. The other girls even came to visit me and helped me learn new words sometimes!

Every day’s filled with so much fun that I never want to leave…

Mum, dad… you’re up in Heaven right now, but I hope you can hear me. I, Renne, am very happy right now, so please watch over me and smile, okay?

Oh, it’s time for bed… G’night.

I’ll make sure to try my best tomorrow.
