Chapter 126: Let's Sightsee in the Royal Capital and Return to the West

The day after going to the market, we continued sightseeing in the Royal Capital. In the morning, we decided to go see a play performed by a troupe popular in the capital.

When we arrived at the theater by carriage, an attendant came out immediately. “Members of the Fairchild family, welcome.” I wondered how he knew our family name, but apparently, he has memorized the family crests of the major noble families.

When I muttered, “People in the hospitality business are amazing,” Oliver smiled brightly and said, “It is only natural.” I see; since business is a world of fierce competition, I suppose it is only to be expected. Upon entering the theater, we were guided to the VIP seats on the second floor. To watch a play from a private VIP box feels like a dream when I consider my life in my previous world.

The play was themed around a tragic romance between a noble man and a commoner woman. I am not very knowledgeable about theater, but the actors’ voices resonated clearly, giving it a feel similar to opera from my previous world. The costumes were also very elaborate, and I felt myself being drawn in.

Or rather, while my impressions were only at that level, both Letty and Sophie were quietly taking out their handkerchiefs. It might be rude to say it was unexpected, but even Oliver, the realist, was moved. Even after leaving the theater, the three of them were discussing their impressions, saying it was a wonderful performance. It seems it really was a good play. In the afternoon, we went to a high vantage point overlooking the Royal Capital. Although we could go part of the way by carriage, we had to climb on foot from there, so Sophie and Oliver, who cannot use Body Enhancement Magic, seemed to have a hard time. However, once we climbed up, the view was even more spectacular than expected.

“Linkstar Castle is beautiful; it truly lives up to its nickname, the Swan Castle.” “It is a wonderful view. One could charge money for this.” I’m glad both Sophie and Oliver seemed satisfied.

The next day, we went to shops selling the things each of us wanted to buy. As expected, the commercial functions of the Royal Capital are substantial. By the way, I cut my shopping short, asked the head chef of the mansion in the Royal Capital to lend me a pot, and cooked the Arroz (rice).

Rice cookers are convenient as they cook with just a switch, but I had heard in my previous life that things like Paella are made in a pot, so it should be fine. I couldn’t quite manage the heat control perfectly, so it turned out a bit like porridge, but in any case, the rice was cooked. The taste of rice after such a long time was moving.

The next day, we decided to return to the West and visited the Royal Palace one more time. I thought Her Highness Princess Flora would be busy, so I intended to leave a message, but she went out of her way to come out to see us.

When we talked about sightseeing and shopping in the Royal Capital, Her Highness looked regretful, saying she wanted to go with us. However, if Princess Flora tried to go to a market where many people gather, security would be a nightmare. Royalty has many official duties and lacks freedom of action; it must be tough. Her Highness pressed me, saying, “Since you can use Teleportation Magic, please come visit without waiting so long next time.”

When we returned to the Fairchild residence in the Royal Capital by carriage, we prepared for our departure and then gathered in my room. “Well then, is everyone ready?”

“Yes, I’m okay.” “Yes, I have my souvenirs too.” “Preparations are complete.” I also had the Arroz stored away; I had bought the shop’s entire stock.

I had the three of them grab my clothes and activated Teleportation Magic. A magic circle floated in the air, and in the next instant, we arrived at the Fairchild family mansion in Northernford. “We’re back home!” “Teleportation Magic really is amazing.” “Indeed. It takes nearly a week by carriage, yet it was instantaneous. It is phenomenal magic.”

“Good work, everyone. Let’s disband here.” “Yes, the Royal Capital was very fun.” Letty headed to Wrexham by carriage. “I was able to have valuable experiences, starting with Teleportation Magic.” Oliver seemed to be returning to the workshop.

Sophie and I returned to our rooms to drop off our luggage, then went to the dining room to have dinner. In the dining room, there was a message card from Father saying, “Welcome back. You can report to me tomorrow, so you should rest early.” I am grateful for Father‘s consideration. After eating, I immediately withdrew to my room.

I was able to go to various places in the Royal Capital this time. Leisurely sightseeing once in a while is a good thing. Thinking about such things on my bed, perhaps I was more tired than I thought, for I fell asleep immediately.

The next day, I woke up refreshed. Maybe it was because I had a good change of pace. At the breakfast table, I reported to Father and Mother about our stay in the Royal Capital. When Sophie happily talked about the sightseeing and shopping, my parents smiled too.

Daily life begins again. The trip to the Royal Capital was fun, but my familiar home is the best after all. Although there is crafting and the exploration of the undeveloped lands to do, maybe I will take a slow rest today.
