- Chapter 161: Flora Goes to the Undeveloped Lands
“I would like you to take Flora to the undeveloped lands.” I had been summoned by His Majesty and wondered what the business could be, only to be asked to take Her Highness the Princess south.
“I opposed it, saying the undeveloped lands are too dangerous, but she insisted quite firmly, arguing that it is unthinkable not to see her fiancé’s future territory.” It seems the fact that she couldn’t see me when I reported on the Golems the other day also pushed her desire to go.
“William-kun, I’m counting on you to look after my daughter.” “Yes, Your Majesty. My companions are strong, so I believe there is no cause for concern.” It’s a bit uncool that I can’t say, “I will protect her myself,” but since I’m a producer, it can’t be helped.
“You also seem to use excellent body-strengthening magic, William-kun, and your magic guns are powerful. Please protect my daughter.” As expected of His Majesty, who is known as a wise ruler. Perhaps he noticed that I was feeling a bit down.
“Yes, I will take every possible precaution for Her Highness’s safety. On that note, would it be alright to have Her Highness try a practice shot with her magic gun?” Since I went through the trouble of giving her one, I want her to be able to use it in an emergency.
“I see, it is important to be able to protect oneself. Furthermore, even though it is an incognito trip, I cannot let the Princess travel far alone. May I attach two guards?” “Of course.”
Flora’s personal guards are apparently twin sisters. The older sister, Chloe, is skilled in sorcery, while the younger, Layla, is an excellent swordsman. I heard they are both top-tier among the younger Royal Knights.
I thought about greeting Flora before heading back, but Cecilia informed me that she was working extra hard on her official duties today just to make time for the trip. I have to prepare thoroughly for her, considering the effort she’s making.
Upon returning to the workshop, I first decided to remodel the carriage used for exploring the undeveloped lands. Since Her Highness and two guards would be joining us, I used Space Magic to expand the living area even further.
Since the table was already built large enough to have plenty of room, I figured adding more chairs would suffice. Then, I expanded the women’s sleeping quarters. Although we expect it to be a day trip, if I were to run out of magic power, we wouldn’t be able to return via Teleportation Magic.
While I was at it, I decided to build a storage room as well. I want to make it usable just in case we find something large in the undeveloped lands that we want to bring back.
Eventually, the day came to take Flora to the southern undeveloped lands. To pick up Her Highness, I teleported to the castle courtyard. “Welcome, William-san.” Her Highness greeted me with a smile, accompanied by her maid, Cecilia.
However, the two guardian knights both seemed startled. One of them even reached for her sword. “So people really do appear out of nowhere so suddenly.” “Forgive me; I was startled and instinctively reached for my blade.”
“No, it’s only natural to be surprised the first time you see it. Nice to meet you, I am William Fairchild.” “It is an honor to meet you. I am Chloe, Her Highness’s guard.” “I am Layla, also a guard.”
Chloe and Layla, the guardian knights, looked very similar, as expected of twins. I had Flora and the twins grab onto my clothes, and then I teleported to my room in the Northernford workshop.
“Is this teleportation? To think we moved in a single instant.” Flora was impressed yet remained composed. The two guards, however, had their eyes wide with shock.
I think it’s normal to be surprised by one’s first teleport. Since her awakening, Flora seems to have developed a very strong set of nerves.
Since Flora is incognito, it’s better if she isn’t seen in public. That’s why I decided to teleport to the undeveloped lands directly from my room. Letty, Theo, Luna, our guards Ria and Gil, and my sister Sophie were all gathered there.
“My, Scarlett-san, Sophia-san, it has been a long time.” “”It has been a long time, Your Highness.”” Flora, Letty, and Sophie rejoiced at their reunion.
Once the exploration team had introduced themselves to Her Highness and the twin knights, it was time to depart. I had everyone grab the hem of my clothes and teleported us to the great plains of the undeveloped lands.
“Oh, the scenery has changed in an instant again. It is a prairie as far as the eye can see.” Flora looked around at her surroundings. Having been raised in the capital, the vast plains must be a rare sight.
By the way, I couldn’t fit the horses into my room, so I teleported back to Northernford, grabbed the horses, and returned to the undeveloped lands. With my current mana capacity, teleporting between Northernford and the undeveloped lands doesn’t feel like it consumes much mana at all.
Once I brought the horses, I produced the carriage I had been storing with magic. “Please, climb in.” “It will likely be cramped, so we guards shall remain outside,” the twin knights hesitated.
“No, it’s quite alright.” I had the two skeptical knights enter the carriage as well. “”What is this?!””
The twins were shocked by how spacious the interior of the carriage was. Incidentally, Flora already knew about the expanded interiors from the carriage I had presented to the Royal Family.
We traveled through the undeveloped lands in the carriage. “The grasslands go on forever. It is vast.” Flora was gazing at the scenery flowing past the window, but…
“W-what is that?” She let out a voice that was uncharacteristically shaken.
Looking out, I saw Golems tending to the cattle and working on road construction. “Ah, those are the Golems. They seem to be working hard today as well.” “Come to think of it, I heard from Father that William-san had created something outrageous again.”
“It’s no wonder Your Highness is surprised. I was shocked when I first saw them as well.” “Yes, unlike dolls, they judge and move for themselves, and they are quite strong. It’s almost impossible to imagine, isn’t it?” Letty and Sophie spoke up to comfort Her Highness. I had shown them the Golems at the workshop, and they were quite surprised at the time too.
The twin guards seemed to have frozen still from sheer amazement. “Everyone seems to be shocked when they see the Golems. They are so honest and cute, though.” “No, Master… I don’t think that’s the issue here.” Even Theo, who usually affirms everything I do, looked at me with exasperation.
