- Chapter 175: Awakening of the Fourth Apostle
(Perspective: The Elder Elf until halfway through.)
By now, Luna is likely fighting the massive horde of monsters alongside William-sama. I pray to the World Tree for their safety.
I am reminded of the previous full-scale offensive of Darkness. Monsters that spring forth no matter how many are defeated. A violence of numbers that seems infinite.
And the troublesomeness of them being commanded by high-ranking monsters, targeting our weak points as a group with a will of its own.
Truthfully, I wish to go to the battlefield and be of use to William-sama, but when Chieftain Luna is absent, I make it a rule to stay by the World Tree.
Luna has grown remarkably recently. Unlike when she first took on the mantle of Chieftain amidst the grief of losing her parents, looking as if she would be crushed by the sense of responsibility, she now displays confidence and composure.
Since Luna is the only direct lineage of the Elven Chieftain, I tried to keep her from going to dangerous places. However, following the southern undeveloped lands, she showed a clear will to accompany William-sama to this battlefield as well.
Of course, it is the duty of our race to support the Savior, William-sama. However, I cannot help but pray for the safety of my precious Luna.
As I offered my prayers to the World Tree, the stone tablet glowed. “Oh, has a new Apostle awakened?” Looking at the stone tablet, the following text surfaced:
‘One is the General. The one who commands the creations of the Savior. With their leadership and valor, they shall crush the great armies of the enemy.’
“The Fourth Apostle is a General? That is exactly the Apostle the Savior standing on the battlefield needs right now. Wonderful; this too must be the guidance of the World Tree.”
The movements of the monsters stopped at the divine light enveloping Letty. When the light faded, Letty nodded as if convinced. “I see, so that is my role.”
Letty turned toward me. “Will, may I borrow the Golems you created?”
“Ah, I don’t mind, but…” Even so, the Golems are far away in the southern undeveloped lands. What is Letty trying to do?
“Golem Summon.” As Letty chanted this, warm light filled the area around her. When the light faded, a multitude of Golems appeared there.
Lately, I had created over 100 Golems for the development of the undeveloped lands. It seems all of them are here.
Moreover, everyone is holding weapons. They are probably the ones I made previously and stored in the workshop warehouse. Even the cute Wood Golems look somewhat sharp and dignified.
“In response to the summons, we have arrived.” The Legatus Golem knelt before Letty. “Thank you, Legatus. This land is being attacked by a massive horde of monsters. I’m sorry to ask immediately, but we are going to repel the monsters.”
“Understood.” The Legatus Golem stood up and seemed to issue instructions to the surrounding Golems.
That said, the Golems don’t exactly converse. Based on their behavior in the undeveloped lands, I surmise they communicate via some kind of telepathy.
By then, the monsters had also started moving. The Dwarves caught the monsters’ attacks with their shields. Then, slipping past the Dwarves’ sides, the Golems attacked the monsters.
The small Wood Golems gang up on a single monster in groups of two or three. They are well coordinated. One after another, the monsters fell, rising as black smoke and vanishing.
“Ooh, they’re small, but they pack a punch!” Cheers erupted from the Dwarves. The morale of our allies rose significantly.
The Iron Golems, larger than the Wood Golems, are going around supporting the Woodpole knights. They attack monsters that the knights block with shields, or intercept monsters trying to slip past the knights to attack the mages in the rear.
“Lord William, with this, we can maintain the battle line.” “Yeah, Theo. Do you think Letty awakened as an Apostle?” “I believe so.”
It seems the Legatus Golem is commanding the Golems supporting the Woodpole knights, while Letty is commanding the Golems here.
It looks like the Golems move just by sensing Letty‘s intent when she glances at them. I can’t command Golems like that.
Letty summoning the Golems really saved us. Now we don’t have to retreat.
