The character name is not finalized. The character name will be fix once the official light novel is release.

(Note: This time is from the perspective of Will’s guard knight, Ophelia.)

The Elf next to me widened her eyes.

“A herd of monsters is coming from the front right. The types are Magic Wolves and Magic Dogs, numbering about 15.”

Currently, I am leading a platoon and hunting monsters in the great plains of the undeveloped lands.

An Elf skilled in Search Magic is accompanying us, informing us of approaching monsters like this.

Leading a platoon is for the sake of the future.

Gil and I are William-sama’s guard knights, but in the future, when William-sama becomes independent as an Earl, we will be leading the Earl’s Knight Order.

That’s why we are receiving training in commanding soldiers from the Fairchild Margrave Family Knight Order.

As practical training for that, I am leading a platoon in the undeveloped lands.

“Knights, spread out to the left and right. Elves, provide cover with bows and magic.”

“Yes, ma’am.”

The knights readied their weapons and split to the left and right.

They used to say things like “Roger” or “Understood,” but a strange phrase has become popular.

“Uno, I leave the front to you guys.”

“Yes, ma’am.”

The Adamantite Golem, Uno, nodded and took up a position at the front where the monsters were coming, along with the surrounding Iron Golems, and readied their shields.

That’s right, “Yes, ma’am” is the reply the Adamantite Golems give when they hear my instructions.

The Adamantite Golems can understand and speak human words, but they cannot speak as fluently as Legato or Dux, speaking only in short phrases.

Hearing that, the knights found it amusing and started mimicking them.

Well, if I consider it a result of everyone getting used to the Golems, it might be inevitable.

Before long, the monster herd came into view.

It is a herd consisting of 5 Magic Wolves and 10 Magic Dogs.

Our side has 5 knights including myself, 2 Elves, and 8 Golems, so our numbers are the same as the monsters.

But our individual strength is different, so there is no problem.

First, one of the Elves shoots a bow.

The Magic Dog hit by the arrow disappears, leaving behind black smoke.

“Wind Cutter!”

The Wind Magic chanted by the other Elf hits a Magic Wolf.

The remaining 13 rush towards us, but the Golems with their shields catch them.

Because Iron Golems are physically strong, they can easily hold back two Magic Dogs, and can even pin down a Magic Wolf one-on-one.

Adamantite Golems are even larger and stronger, so while catching a Magic Wolf, they swing their swords to attack the Magic Dogs.

Then, the knights who spread out to the left and right thrust spears and swing swords from the flanks, and provide cover with magic and bows from behind the Golems.

The monster herd smoothly dwindles.

As expected, having the Golems act as a wall is huge.

Lately, neither knights nor Elves rarely get injured.

Golems only listen to the instructions of William-sama and the Apostles.

But Adamantite Golems have high intelligence, so they can make their own judgments and act flexibly.

If William-sama, Theo, or Oliver tells them to listen to this person’s instructions and fight monsters before leaving on an expedition to the undeveloped lands, they will independently judge and fight alongside us after that.

The monster herd has been reduced to only one leader-class Magic Wolf remaining.

Since commanding is no longer necessary, I step forward as well.

I am told that commanders shouldn’t step out to the front too much, but my skills will dull if I don’t.

Slipping between the Iron Golems, I close in on the Magic Wolf and swing my Mithril sword.

I took off the Magic Wolf‘s head with a single stroke.

The Mithril sword enchanted by William-sama truly has a different sharpness.

“Alright, that’s all of them. Once we collect the Mana Cores, we’ll pull back.”

“”Yes, ma’am.””

The sun is starting to set, so let’s return to the town of Tintern.

Patrolling the great plains since morning, this was the second monster herd.

Today as well, besides Gil and me, several platoons led by knights and Elves are patrolling the great plains.

As a result of knights, Elves, and Golems patrolling together, the number of monsters has decreased significantly compared to before.

The great plains are no longer the dangerous place they used to be.
