- Chapter 93: The Island Inside the Lake
The leyline Crosspoint is hard to find. So, we decided to try teleporting to the island inside the lake that we haven’t searched yet. “May I go together with the Lord Savior?” Aulasneal offered to accompany me. Since only Elves can sense leylines, I need to go with an Elf. If it’s going to be one Elf, it’s natural for it to be the exploration leader, Aulasneal.
“I would like to accompany you as a guard as well.” Ophelia is a knight with a strong sense of responsibility. I can’t say there’s no danger on an island we’re visiting for the first time. Hmm, what should I do?
I haven’t done it before, but I think we can teleport even with three people together. “Alright then, let’s go with the three of us.” I held hands with Aulasneal and Ophelia. Trees grow thickly on the island, but there are open spaces here and there. Focusing my consciousness on one of the spaces visible from the lakeshore, I activate the Production Skill.
When the skill activated, I was on the island the next moment. I felt dizzy for a split second. I haven’t been staggering lately, but it’s hard to get used to the scenery changing suddenly. But it seems we managed to teleport successfully to the space I was aiming for.
“Oh, this is!” As soon as we arrived on the island, Aulasneal opened his eyes wide. “Lord Savior, this land is overflowing with the power of the leylines. The leyline Crosspoint is surely on this island.”
Aulasneal seems to feel stronger leyline power towards the center of the island. With Aulasneal in the lead, me in the middle, and Ophelia bringing up the rear, we proceeded toward the center of the island. When trees got in the way, we had Aulasneal move them with magic. Exploring a forest becomes significantly easier when an Elf is present. After proceeding for a while, we arrived at a clearing in the center of the island.
Why is it a clearing? It doesn’t feel like human hands have touched it, but it was a mysterious place with no trees, just grass and flowers growing. When we advanced to the middle of the clearing, Aulasneal knelt and looked up at the sky. “Oh, Goddess.” Having finished his prayer and stood up, he wore a beaming smile. “Lord Savior, this is the leyline Crosspoint. There is no mistake.” We finally arrived.
According to Aulasneal, because the leylines are so strong, ordinary trees cannot grow, resulting in a clearing of grass and flowers. We teleported back to everyone waiting on the lakeshore. “Everyone, we were able to find the leyline Crosspoint.” The Elves looked relieved rather than happy. Some even sat down on the ground.
“You did it, Lord William.” Gil ran over looking happy. Being able to come this far safely is largely thanks to the help of the knights who took vacation to accompany us. “James, Gilbert, and all the knights. Thank you so much for accompanying us this far.” “Lord William, this isn’t something to be thanked for. I talked with the Elves on the way, and they have been fulfilling a difficult mission for the sake of humanity all this time. If we humans don’t help at least a little, we’ll face divine punishment.”
Ah, James truly is a magnificent knight. The surrounding knights are nodding too. Seeing that, the Elves looked happy. I hope a relationship of trust between humans and Elves continues to build like this.
Since the exploration was finally over, we moved far away from the wetlands on the lakeshore to dry land and began preparing to camp. Everyone seems relieved to be able to camp on dry ground. The horses seem happy too, as they apparently hated the bugs swarming them while tethered in the wetlands.
Even without bugs, sleeping on a bed is better, so when I brought out the stored tents, both Elves and knights looked happy. “Listen up, the expedition lasts until we return safely to the Fairchild territory. Don’t let your guard down, everyone!” Seeing everyone looking relieved, James seemed to fire them up. He’s right. It is important that everyone returns safely.
After providing pots of warm tea as usual, I teleported toward the workshop with Ophelia. Returning to Northernford really is a relief. “Ophelia, good work.” “Good work to you too, Lord William. Will you return to the mansion?”
“No, today I’ll stop by the Elf Forest to report before going home. I think I should convey the discovery of the Crosspoint quickly.” “That is right. Then shall I report to His Excellency the Margrave?” “Thank you, please do.” When Ophelia left the room, I teleported to the Elf Forest.
“Whoa, Lord Savior. Even knowing about it, it’s surprising.” When I teleported to the square of the Hidden Village of the Elves, nearby Elves were surprised. “Sorry for startling you. I had something I wanted to let you know urgently today.” “Since you look happy, it must be good news. I will call the Chieftain and the Elder.” “Thank you.”
“Lord William, welcome.” “Ah, Lucelina, and Elder. I apologize for intruding suddenly with Teleportation Magic. But I wanted to tell you quickly.” “Meaning?” “We have finally found the leyline Crosspoint.”
“My, that is wonderful news.” Lucelina rejoiced, her large green eyes sparkling. “Thank you, Lord Savior. With this, the path to growing the World Tree has become visible.” The Elder spoke in a calm tone, but a sense of relief was evident. “We did it!” “Now we can restore the World Tree!” The Elves gathered in the square raised cheers.
