- Chapter 243: At the End of the Training Camp
The character name is not finalized. The character name will be fix once the official light novel is release.
On the morning of the final day of the training camp, I woke up early, stepped outside the carriage, and gave a big stretch.
“Good morning, Master.”
Legato, who had been standing guard, walked over.
“Good morning, Legato. Were there any abnormalities?”
“No, nothing more than a few Demon Dogs appearing.”
“I see. Thank you for keeping watch all night.”
“We do not require sleep, after all. If we were of use to you, Master, the others will surely be pleased as well.”
No, no, I have nothing but gratitude for the Golems.
When I returned to the living room of the carriage, everyone else was waking up too.
Col appeared looking a bit disheveled while rubbing his sleepy eyes.
However, the women were all properly dressed with their hair perfectly styled.
I was impressed; as expected of the daughters of nobles and major trading companies.
When I brought out the breakfast provided by Kate that I had stored away with magic, the pleasant aroma of freshly baked bread filled the air.
As expected, Storage Magic is convenient because time stops inside it.
I’m glad the black tea was still warm, too.
“It is a shame the training camp is ending.”
“It really is, Your Highness.”
“Fufu, let’s make another opportunity and come back with everyone in the club.”
“Please invite me next time too.”
“Yes, little Sophie is practically a member of the Southern Development Research Society, after all.”
“Thank you, Kate-san.”
“Lastly, there’s a place I want to show everyone.”
“What kind of place is it, Will?”
“It’s the candidate site for the town we’re going to build in the Black Soil Zone.”
“Oh, you’re building the next town?”
“Yeah, though it’s still in preparation.”
The Black Soil Zone has fertile land and is suited for agriculture.
We were able to confirm that during this training camp, and I’ve had the concept of making wheat fields for a while now.
That is why I’m thinking of building a town that will serve as an agricultural hub.
However, to develop farmland on a full scale, several preparations are required.
First, we won’t be able to cultivate the land in peace unless we reduce the monsters to some extent.
There are still unexplored regions in the southern part of the Black Soil Zone where many monsters appear. And although the Fairchild family knights and the Elves have hunted down a significant number of monsters in the north, it still can’t be called completely safe.
Furthermore, we need manpower.
Even though the Wood Golems are doing a great job, it’s better to have people around to deal with unforeseen circumstances.
Thankfully, the number of people hoping to migrate to the undeveloped lands is increasing.
We are currently holding interviews to find trustworthy individuals with an aptitude for agriculture among them.
This time as well, Smith, the steward of the Fairchild family, and his team are cooperating with us.
I’ll have to bring them some refreshments again.
It seems those preparations will take a little more time, but James, Aurasneer, and the others have already found a candidate site for the town.
“So, it will be the second town in the undeveloped lands that will become your territory in the future, William-san.”
“That’s right, Flora.”
“It is a joyous thing that the development is progressing.”
“It’s all thanks to everyone cooperating with me.”
“Will, what kind of town are you going to make this time?”
“I’m hoping to make this town an agricultural base.”
I teleported together with everyone.
The candidate site for the town in the Black Soil Zone is located near the highway, with a grove and a pond nearby.
Looking at the surroundings, everyone began talking about various things.
“Having a pond nearby is important, Luna. Because we use a lot of water at the workshop.”
“Is that so, Theo. And the water in this pond is beautiful.”
“Kate, this place is slightly elevated compared to the surroundings, right? It has a good view, making it a good piece of land for keeping an eye out for monsters.”
“I see, Col. So this is a highly defensible piece of land.”
As expected, my companions are all excellent.
They understand the good points of this place without me even having to explain.
“Oliver-san, I believe building a town requires an enormous amount of money, however.”
“That is true, Kate-san. Normally, securing the funds is a major challenge.”
“Then, is it not a challenge this time?”
“Yes, because the W&F Workshop represented by William-sama is turning a massive profit, there are no issues on the financial side.”
The workshop has developed new things one after another.
Among them are products that have become incredibly popular, such as the beautiful transparent soap and plastic eyeglass lenses.
Recently, the hair dryer developed by Theo and Mabel has also been selling exceptionally well.
Up until now, many women kept their hair short, except for those of a status who could have maids dry their hair for them. Because they can now have long hair since it’s easy to dry, it has become a massive hit product.
“Financial power enough to build a new town? That is amazing.”
“Kate, the reason the workshop’s profits are so large is because Oliver and all the craftsmen are working so hard.”
