- Chapter 222: The Southern Development Research Society Goes to the Undeveloped Lands
“Now then, shall we try going to the undeveloped lands?”
Thursday afternoons have no classes due to club and society activities.
Therefore, the members of the Southern Development Research Society gathered in the clubroom during the lunch break.
Though Student Council President Luke and the Vice President, my sister-in-law, are ghost members, so they aren’t here.
The three classmates who were nervous at first seem to have gotten quite used to things.
That’s why I asked if they wanted to try going to the undeveloped lands.
“Yes, please.”
Elva was clenching both hands nervously.
“Oh, will we get to fight monsters?”
Colsen looked happy.
“Is it really okay for me to tag along too?”
Katarina looked a little anxious.
My two fiancées, who are also Apostles, nodded matter-of-factly.
“Today, I will show you around the town we built in the undeveloped lands and its surroundings. There won’t be any real fighting; I’m planning to make it more of an experience of the undeveloped lands.”
The development of the Black Soil Zone in the undeveloped lands is progressing smoothly.
The Royal Knights, the Fairchild family knights, and the Golems are working hard to subjugate the monsters.
I was also planning to look for a suitable place to use as a base, but Aurasneer, James, and the others told me to leave it to them.
For now, it feels like there’s no need for me to step in.
That’s why I thought I’d have my classmates experience the undeveloped lands.
Hearing that today was just an experience, Colsen looked a little disappointed, while Elva and Katarina looked relieved.
Thinking that the undeveloped lands are scary is a normal person’s sentiment.
If anything, Colsen‘s attitude is the strange one.
“Well then, I’m going to teleport, so could you grab the hem of my clothes?”
Letty and Flora smoothly came to my side with practiced ease.
The remaining three grabbed the hem of my clothes hesitantly.
“Alright, here we go.”
When I activated Teleportation Magic, the next instant, we appeared in a different room.
“Whoa, where is this?”
“Elva, this is my room at the workshop branch in New Wrexham.”
“I see, so it’s a room for teleporting without being seen by others.”
“Yeah, it’s exactly as Katarina says.”
Katarina is calm.
Leaving the room, I greeted the workshop staff—who were used to my sudden appearances—and went outside the building.
“Oh, this milk can-like building is exactly what I saw on the postcard. We really have come to the undeveloped lands.”
Turning back to look at the workshop branch, Colsen was deeply moved.
Ah, because we teleported from indoors to indoors instead of suddenly appearing in a great plain or something, it didn’t feel real to them that they were in the undeveloped lands at first.
After that, I showed my classmates the high-rise hotel, the show homes, the wide roads, the shops, and so on.
All three of them seemed deeply interested, but Katarina in particular had sparkling eyes and asked various questions.
After showing them around the town, we entered a cafe to take a breather.
“This cheesecake is so rich and has such a depth of flavor!”
“It’s true. It’s more delicious than popular stores in the Royal Capital.”
Katarina widened her eyes, and Elva nodded in agreement.
I’m happy that the two of them, who normally eat delicious things, are surprised.
The cafe’s chef, who received guidance from Baker-san, has good skills.
“Now then, shall we try heading to the great plains soon?”
“Oh, it’s finally time.”
Colsen‘s eyes sparkled.
“It’s not very dangerous around here anymore, but I’ll still get scolded later if I don’t bring guards along, so could you wait here for a little bit?”
Saying that to everyone, I went to the workshop branch and called Ria on the phone.
“Ah, sorry to bother you when you’re busy, Ria. I want to take my classmates from the Royal Academy to the great plains now; is that okay?”
“I had heard about your plans, so both Gil and I are free to move.”
“Thank you, I’ll go pick you up then.”
I teleported to Northernford, met up with the two of them, and then teleported back to the workshop branch in New Wrexham.
After borrowing horses at the workshop branch, I went to pick up my classmates at the cafe.
Then, once we left the town, I brought out the carriage I had stored.
The three of them were surprised when a large carriage suddenly appeared. I guess they aren’t used to seeing Storage Magic.
“Here, get in.”
I opened the carriage door.
“What is this!”
“Wow, I had heard rumors, but the inside is really this spacious, huh.”
Colsen and Katarina widened their eyes at the carriage whose interior was expanded.
Colsen stepped outside once to look at the carriage, shaking his head and saying, “What is going on?”
“It really is astounding,” Katarina nodded.
“I was surprised when I rode it for the first time as well.”
Only Elva was calm.
She seems used to it because she has experience riding the carriage with the expanded interior that we gifted to her Ducal family.
“Why is there another room in the back? Is this carriage a house!”
Even Elva was surprised that there was a shower room and a bedroom in the back of the spatially expanded room.
“Looking at it like this, we’ve really gotten used to it, haven’t we.”
“Right. When you’re near Will, you gradually stop being surprised by anything you see.”
I wish Flora and Letty would stop looking at me with those slightly exasperated eyes.
“Indeed, we’ve had many unimaginable experiences.”
“That’s very true.”
I wish Ria and Gil wouldn’t nod so deeply in agreement either.
From there, we proceeded through the great plains in the carriage.
It seems the monsters have decreased drastically compared to before, and we didn’t encounter any.
After about an hour, we finally encountered a small pack of Demon Dogs.
“Let me handle them.”
“I will do my best as well.”
I decided to leave it to the eager Colsen and Elva.
Colsen seems to have devoted himself to the sword; his sword movements are good.
Elva‘s magic incantations are smooth, but it’s true that the power was a bit underwhelming.
But I think this is a time for praise.
“You’re both strong. I can tell you’ve been training well.”
After a while longer, a pack of Demon Wolves appeared.
This time, the guards, Ria and Gil, stepped forward.
Elva and Colsen were surprised as the two of them cut the Demon Wolves in half with single strikes.
“Is this the true strength of the Fairchild family knights?”
“The knights of our family are strong as well, but this is on a slightly different level.”
Both Ria and Gil have gotten truly strong.
In addition to their training, they have an abundance of actual combat experience, after all.
When my two guards are praised, it makes me kind of happy.
