- Chapter 238: The Beginning of the Summer Training Camp
The character name is not finalized. The character name will be fix once the official light novel is release.
When I cast Teleportation Magic, we emerged in the Black Soil Zone of the undeveloped lands.
The destination I chose was around the northern part of the Black Soil Zone.
Gently rolling hills stretched out, dotted with shrubs here and there.
“Oh, so this is the Black Soil Zone. It certainly is completely different from the great plains.”
“It’s just as Col says. Hey El, do you think this place will make good farmland?”
“Yes, I think this will become good farmland, Kate.”
“Indeed, it is good soil.”
“Oh, we have the guarantee of El and Theo-san, then.”
I’m glad that El, who is knowledgeable about agriculture, and Theo, who is knowledgeable about soil, said it looks like it will become good farmland.
I’m hoping to cultivate wheat and such here.
This is an area where the monsters have significantly decreased thanks to the knights, Elves, and Golems working hard to hunt them.
Even so, just in case, I had Legato come out of spatial storage and asked him to stand guard.
“Please leave it to me, Master.”
Legato led the Iron Golem squad and kept watch over our surroundings.
“Now then, shall we travel by carriage from here on?”
In front of everyone, I took out the modified carriage I had stored with magic.
“Huh, what about the horses, Brother?”
“Yeah. I created something that doesn’t get tired like horses, can fight monsters, and will pull the carriage for us.”
“Eh? You don’t mean you brought one, but you ‘created’ one?”
“Yeah. Today is its first unveiling.”
When I took out the Golem Horse I had stored, everyone was dumbfounded.
“Even though Golems were legendary beings, not just humanoid but even horse-type ones… When did you create something like this, Will?”
“While I was preparing for the training camp.”
“Fufu, I don’t think that is what Letty is asking about. Truly, if we take our eyes off you for even a moment, you immediately create such surprising things.”
Flora smiled, but I somehow felt a bit disgruntled.
“A Golem wouldn’t get tired, nor would it be frightened of monsters; I see, it makes perfect sense.”
“As expected of William-sama. It’s a wonderful idea.”
Theo and Luna praised me honestly.
Yeah, these two always heal my heart.
I approached the Golem Horse and patted its head.
“Well then, I’m counting on you.”
“PLEASE LEAVE IT TO ME, MASTER.”
“Eh!? This Golem Horse can talk?”
Theo shouted in a loud voice.
Huh, is it really something to be that surprised about?
From there, a commotion broke out with things like “Unbelievable” and “How much are we supposed to be surprised?”, but after a while, everyone calmed down and got into the carriage.
Beyond the gentle hills, a single road stretched from north to south.
The workshop staff and the Dwarves are continuing to lay roads even in the Black Soil Zone.
I’ll have to bring them refreshments again sometime.
And along the sides of the road grew cypress trees that the Elves had planted, creating shade to take a breather from the sunlight.
They will surely be of help to the merchants and travelers who will eventually come.
As for the monsters that occasionally appeared, the Golems defeated them before they could get close.
“I’m grateful, but I’d be happy if I got a turn too.”
It seems Col wants to fight.
“Legato, could you hold back from defeating the next monsters that appear? I have comrades who want to gain combat experience.”
“Understood, Master.”
“He really is smart.”
“Kate, Legato is a special Golem.”
“Yes, Legato is special.”
For some reason, Sophie puffed out her chest proudly.
The Golems let the next few Demon Boars that appeared pass through without defeating them.
“Alright, it’s finally my turn.”
“I will show the results of my practice as well.”
Once the carriage was stopped, Col and El practically jumped out of it.
They sure are fired up.
Col chanted Physical Enhancement Magic and dashed forward, while El wove an incantation.
Col, who closed the distance to the monsters in the blink of an eye, swung his bastard sword, and a Demon Boar collapsed with a heavy thud.
It was truly cut in two with a single stroke.
El’s magic also defeated a large Demon Boar in a single shot.
Before long, the Demon Boars turned into black smoke in front of the two of them.
Both El and Col have gotten strong.
Even pulling the carriage alone, the Golem Horse knew no fatigue and advanced steadily.
Legato and the Iron Golems were also running and keeping up with us.
But while the Golems might be fine, humans need rest.
Since we just found a small lake, we decided to take an early lunch break.
“William-san, could I ask you for box number 3?”
“Yeah.”
I took out the stored box just as Kate instructed.
It’s greatly appreciated that they are numbered to make them easy to distinguish.
When we opened the box, it contained delicious-looking baguette sandwiches and hors d’oeuvres like smoked salmon.
We took out the tablecloth, napkins, and silverware from another box, and everyone arranged them on the table in the carriage’s living room.
“As usual, it has an atmosphere you wouldn’t expect in the undeveloped lands. Makes you wonder what high-class restaurant you’re in.”
“Isn’t it fine, Gil. We should be grateful we can have such a luxurious meal. Ah, it smells so good.”
The lunch we had was extremely delicious.
When everyone praised it, saying “As expected of the Rinaldi Company,” Kate looked happy.
After eating lunch together, we teleported to the workshop in New Wrexham.
From here on, Kate will act separately.
After this, we plan to explore places where there are still many monsters, and Kate is scheduled to study in town.
“It’s been a while, everyone.”
When we teleported to the New Wrexham workshop, Oliver welcomed us.
Even though he must be busy, Oliver also came to New Wrexham to match our summer training camp.
“Well then, Kate-san, shall we study the economy of the undeveloped lands together here?”
“Thank you very much, Oliver-san. I will do my best.”
“Fufu, it really feels like ‘Oliver-sensei’.”
“Letty, from my perspective, he has been ‘Oliver-sensei’ from the very beginning.”
Come to think of it, Oliver was Flora’s Commerce Skill teacher.
After seeing the two of them off, we teleported once more, this time heading toward the southern part of the Black Soil Zone.
