- Chapter 239: The Savior and the Apostles ~ The Elder's Tale
The character name is not finalized. The character name will be fix once the official light novel is release.
We teleported from New Wrexham to the southern part of the Black Soil Zone.
After having Legato and the others come out, we boarded the carriage.
After advancing for a while, a pack of Demon Boars attacked.
While the Golems led by Legato fought back, a large Demon Deer appeared from the opposite side.
As expected, there are a lot of monsters around here.
“Leave this to us.”
“Please leave it to us.”
Flora‘s twin guards stood up inside the carriage.
“Alright, I’m counting on you, then.”
Stopping the carriage, the twins lightly jumped down and headed toward the giant Demon Deer.
When the older sister, Chloe, chanted a spell, flames burst from a magic circle floating above her head and flew toward the Demon Deer.
The younger sister, Layla, ran up to the Demon Deer and swung her sword at the exact moment her sister’s magic hit.
It’s unbelievable synchronization.
And it wasn’t just the timing.
The sword slash was sucked into the neck of the Demon Deer right where the magic struck.
With a surprised look on its face, the Demon Deer collapsed with a heavy thud.
Leaving behind a large magic stone, the monster turned into black smoke and disappeared.
“That’s amazing, you two. You were unbelievably synchronized.”
“Thank you very much, William-sama.”
“Because together, the two of us make one fully-fledged fighter, after all.”
“No, no, that level of skill is way beyond just one fully-fledged fighter.”
“That was amazing to watch. As expected of Her Highness’s guards.”
Letty was also impressed.
After exploring for a while longer, the sun began to set.
“It’s getting dark. Shall we head back?”
“Yes, let’s.”
After confirming there were no monsters around, I had Legato and the others gather and stored them away.
Then, after storing the carriage as well, we teleported back to New Wrexham.
“Good work out there.”
“Welcome back.”
When we returned to my room at the New Wrexham workshop, Oliver and Kate were there to meet us.
“There were a lot of monsters in the south. How was it for you, Kate?”
“Ahaha, Oliver-sensei is a demon.”
“Is that so? But you managed to keep up without any problems, didn’t you?”
It seems Kate is quite talented, and Oliver is training her without holding back.
I’m looking forward to Kate‘s future.
“What are we doing for dinner today?”
“Ah, we’re planning to visit the Elf Village today.”
“Seriously? We’re having dinner at the Elf Village?”
Luna smiled at the surprised Col.
“Yes, everyone, please come to the village today.”
“To think we get to enter an Elf Village, a place humans normally can’t, again… and even have a meal there.”
“Ever since joining the Southern Development Research Society, it’s been nothing but surprises.”
This time, with Oliver and Kate joining us, we teleported to the Elf Forest.
As we walked through the forest, the village eventually came into view.
“Welcome, everyone. I am glad you could make it.”
The Elder welcomed us.
The Elves had prepared dinner for us.
Centered around the bounty of the forest—vegetables and herbs—the food was served on elaborately decorated wooden plates.
The classmates from the Southern Development Research Society, who were nervous at first, gradually relaxed.
Col happily ate skewered meat hunted by the Elf hunters, while El and Kate ate salads of nuts and vegetables, commenting on how healthy it looked.
After the delicious meal, we drank warm tea while listening to the Elder’s story.
“I will speak of the previous offensive of the darkness. And also the tale of the Savior and the Apostles passed down in our clan.”
After consulting with His Majesty and Father, we had decided to share this information with the club members.
As the sun set, under the light of mysterious glowing mushrooms, the Elder began to speak.
She spoke of how the monster attacks, abnormal weather, and infectious diseases claimed many lives during the previous offensive of the darkness, and how more than one country was destroyed.
How the Savior, together with the Apostles, threw themselves into a difficult battle and somehow managed to eliminate the threat of the darkness.
The three classmates of the Southern Development Research Society listened intently to the Elder’s story.
Even though I already knew the story, hearing it like this at night in the Elf Forest evoked a new sense of deep emotion.
When the Elder finished her story, the three of them seemed deeply moved.
“What an incredible story. It’s like a myth.”
“It’s just as Col says. But this is reality, isn’t it.”
“I knew William-san was the Savior, but to think that Her Highness, Letty-san, Theo-san, and Oliver-san are his Apostles.”
Near the end of her tale, the Elder had explained that in addition to me being the Savior recognized by the World Tree, Letty, Flora, Theo, and Oliver were Apostles.
“To think Oliver-sensei is an Apostle despite being a merchant. As a fellow merchant, I truly respect him.”
“I know how amazing Theo-san’s crafting is from this sword, but he really is Will‘s right-hand man in manufacturing, huh.”
“So Her Highness and Letty-san weren’t just supporting William-san as his fiancées, but as Apostles as well.”
“Yeah. Even though I’m called the Savior, I’m not a hero or a sage. I’ve only managed to get this far because everyone supports me.”
“Even so, I knew Will and the others saved the Kingdom from its crisis, but you’re carrying the weight of this world too.”
“Yes, it is a very heavy burden, isn’t it.”
The Elder smiled.
“The Savior and the Apostles certainly bear an important role, but protecting the world requires the cooperation of many people. Status does not matter when it comes to helping the Savior or the Apostles. The efforts of those around who support them are also vital.”
“Of course, my Ducal house will support you with all our might.”
“I’ve already decided to swing my sword for Will.”
“Our company will also support you to the best of our abilities.”
“Thank you, everyone.”
