■ Explanations
■ The Duchy of Brunhild – A small independent nation existing between the Belfast Kingdom and the Regulus Empire. Founded about 300 years ago by the First Sovereign King, Touya Mochizuki Brunhild, who was a Gold Rank adventurer. To counter the invaders from another world, the ‘Phrase’, who were ravaging the world at the time, he revived the giant humanoid weapons, Frame Gears, an ancient legacy, laid the foundation of the World Alliance, and guided the world to peace. Since then, Brunhild has functioned as the world’s mediator country, and is also called the capital of magic study or the magitech city, producing various magic tools, including Frame Gears.
■ First Sovereign Grand Duke of Brunhild, Touya Mochizuki Brunhild. Established himself as an adventurer from a young age, and due to numerous achievements such as subjugating a Black Dragon and suppressing a coup d’état in the Regulus Empire, he gained the backing of the Belfast Kingdom and the Regulus Empire to found the The Duchy of Brunhild. Afterwards, he established the World Alliance, led the countries of the whole world to fight the invaders from another world, the Phrase, and emerged victorious. He is also the developer of the smartphones routinely used around the world today (though that is not actually the case). Incidentally, Brunhild accounts for over 90% of the global smartphone market share.
■ The Nine Duchesses are refers to the nine duchesses who once accompanied the First Sovereign King. It is said that all nine were queens blessed with both intelligence and beauty. Currently, only two are surviving (or so it is said), the Fairy Duchess Leen and the Demon Duchess Sakura, who were long-lived species, but they have not appeared in official public spaces for a very long time.
■ Frame Gear – A Giant humanoid decisive battle weapons created by the genius magitech engineer Regina Babylon, who lived during the ancient magic civilization. Originally made to subjugate the invaders from another world, the ‘Phrase’. The First Sovereign Grand Duke revived them to fight the Phrase, who reappeared after traversing 5,000 years. Now that the Phrase have been repelled, they are used for major disasters, subjugating giant beasts, and the mock war ‘Magical Great War: Ragnarok’, held staking national prestige.
■ Armed Gear – Originally remodeled from small-scale powered exoskeletons created by dwarves. The average size is 2.5 to 3 meters. Basically single-seaters. They apply Frame Gear technology, and once accustomed, can be moved like one’s own limbs. Generally used for civil engineering work, cargo transport, security, etc., but there is also a sport called ‘Battle Gear’ where Armed Gears fight each other.
■ Phrase – Invaders from another world. Crystalline lifeforms with bodies like crystal. Their shapes vary, and many are modeled after plants, animals, insects, etc. There are lower-class, intermediate-class, upper-class, and humanoid dominant-class species that govern them. Entities that plunged the world into the depths of terror 5,000 years ago and 300 years ago, but were driven to extinction by the hands of the First Sovereign Grand Duke. From shattered Phrase, a special translucent ore called ‘Crystal Material’ can be obtained, which increases in hardness by having magic power flow through it. Now that the Phrase have perished, natural ones are traded at tremendous prices. Additionally, Brunhild has succeeded in producing a small amount of Crystal Material replicas.
■ Golem – Refers to mechanical automatons created by ancient civilization. There are two types: Ancient Machines (Legacy) created by ancient technology and excavated, and Factory-mades (Factory) produced in modern factories. There are various types, and they have become important partners in people’s daily lives. They can be bought by individuals but are quite expensive.
■ Magic – Magic is broadly divided into seven attributes: Fire, Water, Wind, Earth, Light, Dark, and Null. Only those with aptitude for an attribute can use its magic. Null Magic in particular is also called personal magic, and it’s said that there is almost no one who can use the exact same magic. Incidentally, healing magic is Light attribute, and summoning magic is Dark attribute.
■ Magic via Frame Gear – Basically amplified and fired from an activator in a staff or similar item. As long as it is a Magic Stone or Crystal Material, the shape doesn’t have to be a staff. The magic unleashed depends on the individual’s attributes.
■ Shooting via Frame Gear – Basically fires live ammunition using explosions caused by magic. Attributes are irrelevant; as long as there is magic power, they can be fired, but if one has aptitude for Fire, Wind, Earth, etc., the power increases further. The number of bullets is limited. If there is equipment called [Infinite Loading], bullets can be stocked externally and reloaded via teleportation. There are also special bullets imbued with magic and the like. There are also Magic Bullets (Madan) fired by Magic Guns (Spell Casters) and the like, which are bullets made of magic power. These have lower power compared to live ammunition, but there’s no worry of running out of bullets as long as magic power lasts. Used in small guns, Turret-type [Floating Swords] ‘Fragarach’, etc.
■ Gear Spell – A special ability used by consuming magic power and mediating it through a Frame Gear. Because it activates through the compatibility between the pilot’s skill and the machine, it will not activate if either is lacking.
■ Gear Arts ‘Techniques’ unleashed utilizing the characteristics of each Frame Gear. Unlike Gear Spells, it is possible to unleash them even with a different machine.
■ [Floating Swords] ‘Fragarach’: Weapon Type: Basically swords, spears, etc., but things like Chakrams also exist. Shield Type: Shield-shaped [Floating Swords] ‘Fragarach’. Can protect oneself, but requires a certain level of proficiency.
Striking Type: [Floating Swords] ‘Fragarach’ that deal striking damage by hitting. The roots of [Floating Swords] ‘Fragarach’ lie in this type.
Turret Type: Each fires independently. Those using ‘Infinite Loading’ are insanely expensive and hard to master. Also called Flying Turrets (Gunslingers).
■ Battle Spirit Method (Touki-hou): A combat technique that fuses one’s own magic power with a part of the body, changing its characteristics and drastically increasing physical capabilities. A secret art passed down among some Dragonewts and others on the Eastern Continent. ‘Hakkei’ (Power Release) and such are derivatives of it. There are several schools.
■ Magical Great War: Ragnarok – An annual large-scale mock war utilizing Frame Gears, held staking the prestige of nations. The winning nation becomes the leader of the World Alliance for one year until the next Magical Great War. Participants of the Magical Great War: Ragnarok are called ‘Heroes’ (Einherjar).
■ Machine Pilot (Trooper) – Refers to a pilot who holds the qualification to operate a Frame Gear. Basically, one must enroll in the ‘Brunhild Magitech School’ or ‘Babylon Magitech Girls’ Academy’ in Brunhild and obtain the qualification. Rarely, some become Troopers without going through a magitech school.
■ Brunhild Magitech School – A school founded about a century ago to learn Frame Gear piloting techniques. A co-ed school. It used to be the only magitech school in the world, but later the similar Babylon Magitech Girls’ Academy was created. Most Troopers serving nations are alumni of this school.
■ Babylon Magitech Girls’ Academy – A girls’ school founded by Quun about fifteen years ago to rival the Brunhild Magitech School, to learn Frame Gear piloting. Welcomes graduated students as teachers. Because the Principal is also a Gear Builder (Machine Creator), the development of new model Frame Gears and new equipment is also conducted.
■ Frame Unit – A virtual experience piloting machine (Simulator) that allows one to operate their own machine registered on their terminal (smartphone) within a virtual space. Basically, students hone their skills with this.
■ Virtual Frame Gear – Basically, one Frame Gear data is loaned to an enrollee. They uniquely adjust and improve it, customizing it into a machine that suits them.
■ Star Duel – A ranking match where one bets their own stars and fights using either an Armed Gear or a Virtual Frame Gear. If you win, you can take the opponent’s stars. You cannot rematch an opponent you have fought once for three months. If you lose to the same opponent five times, you can no longer challenge that opponent.
■ Inter-School Match: Bifrost An exchange match between the ‘Academy’ and the ‘School’. There is a ‘Grade-Level Match’ fought by each grade, and a ‘Comprehensive Match’ fought by all representatives of both schools.
I will update the map later after completely translate.
